Message on Behalf of the Greek Leadership Team
Dear Parents of current or future Texas State women:

Whether your daughter is a first-year freshman like many of our incoming members or a transfer from a previous institution, a legacy of a Texas State Greek or a first-generation college student, your daughter is facing or will soon face new challenges as she progresses towards graduation from college. It is for exactly this reason that I am such an advocate of involvement in Greek life.

Involvement in a sorority can be a life-changing experience, adding to a student's sense of belonging in college while simultaneously providing unique leadership opportunities that
only a fraternal organization can provide. I am continually impressed as our sorority women at Texas State plan and facilitate campus-wide philanthropy events, organize trips and visits to other chapters across the country, and participate in sisterhood-building events like chapter retreats and Greek Week, all while building life-long friendships, enhancing leadership skills, and gaining invaluable experience in running an organization.

Everyone on campus, Greek or not, agrees that sorority women are
leaders in our community. They dedicate thousands of hours every semester to serving our local community as well as their national philanthropies (they each have one), supporting each other in the pursuit of academic excellence, and often serving in leadership roles in important non-Greek organizations such as the Associated Student Government and the Student Foundation.

Greek life is not for everyone; however, if your daughter is a leader among her peers, involved in her community, interested in school spirit, academically driven, and altruistic in character, going Greek
for her! If your daughter has already joined one of our prestigious organizations at Texas State, then I congratulate her. Ask her from time to time how things are going, and continue to support her in her growth as a woman and a leader. I'm sure she'll be happy to tell you about the many great things her sorority is doing!

Whether she is thinking about joining or almost a graduate, your daughter will be in good hands among the Panhellenic community at Texas State. On behalf of the Campus Activities and Student Organizations (CASO) office, I hope you will not hesitate to let us know if there is anything we can do to help you better understand what Greek life is all about. Don't hesitate to contact me at the numbers listed below. For recruitment information or general interest questions I would highly encourage your daughter to contact the Panhellenic office herself (their contact information is listed
here), but if you have parental inquiries or any specific needs at all, you are welcome to contact me as well.

Again, my congratulations at having a Greek or potential Greek as a daughter! Be proud of her for all that she contributes; or if she is considering joining, I hope you will support her in pursuit of this unique opportunity.

Sincerely,

Brenda J. Rodriguez
